About Sharon Luggage & Gifts

It was 1934, the height of the Great Depression, when Howard L. Steiger did an unusual thing - he opened a business.
Steiger Brothers, which was later known as Steiger's, did quite well in Williamsport, Pennsylvania and both of H.L.'s sons, Howard Paul and Robert, were trained in the business. Bob continued in the family business while Howard went on to a successful career as a dermatologist.
By 1969, Howard had been practicing medicine in Charlotte, North Carolina for more than 20 years when he decided to take advantage of the opportunity offered by a new shopping mall to be called SouthPark, and open a luggage shop. He worked with Bob and other family members to get things rolling, and settled on the name Sharon Luggage, named after the street on which the mall was located, Sharon Road.
And we've been serving Charlotte & North Carolina ever since. We're proud to have helped so many North Carolinians see the World in the last 40 years!
